Spectrochemical
Services
Continuing our commitment to excellence and innovation
with spectroscopy, we have added a state-of-the-art ARL 4460 emission
spectrometer. This top of the line spectrometer is loaded with some
60 element channels and is currently programmed for the following
alloy families: carbon and low alloy steel, free machining steel,
stainless steel, tool steel, aluminum, nickel and titanium alloys.
Another nice feature is the ability to analyze samples with a much
smaller surface area.
The computer controlled electronic current
controlled high rep source unit produces the ideal burning conditions
for the programmed alloy systems and various sized samples. The
ECC source unit also significantly expands the analytical ranges
and
improves
burning samples with a variety of metallurgical conditions. Notable
improvements include measuring very low and high carbon as well
as machinability elements
added to free machining steels. While not a replacement for combustion
techniques, nitrogen
and oxygen are now available by optical emission. Stay tuned as
we bring the various
new options on line.
